About Dave's Downtown American Restaurant & Catering

David & Sue Barnier have been in the restaurant business since 1986.  Starting with Butler Express in the Butler Square Building they focused on hearty homemade food served with a smile.  Dave & Sue expanded to a larger location for Butler Express and opened three more in Bloomington including Dave’s by the Lake in the Normandale Lake Office Center.  Dave decided to get out of the restaurant business and sold each restaurant to allow for more time with their nine kids, yes they have nine kids!  Being out of the restaurant business didn’t last long when Dave took over Mykenna’s in the Oracle building in 2008.  Dave & Sue brought their family style food and friendly service to create Dave’s Downtown.  Every one of their nine children has worked or currently works for them making Dave’s Downtown a true family owned and operated business.  They take pride in providing the downtown Minneapolis area with a unique lunch experience by attracting a varied crowd that have one thing in common; a desire for great food, fast.
